Getting around
Austin logistics, briefly
The venues sit in three different parts of town, so build in travel time between a matinee and the backyard.
Flying in
Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS) is roughly 15 minutes from Drinks Backyard and 20–25 from downtown. Delta Air Lines is an official weekend sponsor.
Driving & parking
Parking is free at most venues: Galaxy Theatres has free on-site parking off Middle Fiskville Rd and Drinks Backyard has a large lot. Valet parking is available at Hotel Indigo for an additional fee, and downtown street parking is free on Sundays, including first come, first served spots around the hotel.
Transit & rideshare
CapMetro buses and the Red Line connect Highland to downtown. CapMetro buslines or rideshare are recommended for downtown venues including Rain on 4th and Hotel Indigo, and rideshare is the simplest way to reach Drinks Backyard on Saturday night.
Where to stay
Pick your base camp
Whether you're planning a visit to Austin for The Big Queer Weekend from out of town or making it a fun Staycation to stay close to all of the fun, here are a few spots to rest your head.
North Central / Highland
Closest to Galaxy Theatres Austin, with chain hotels along I-35 and Airport Blvd and a quick Red Line or bus ride to downtown.
Downtown Austin
Best for nightlife and the Thursday after party at Rain on 4th. Expect higher rates and paid garage parking, but everything is walkable.
South Austin
Handy for those who want a groovier vibe at one of Austin's boutique hotels from Bunkhouse.
